Singer with Autism Dedicates Heartfelt Song to his Mom

This guest post is a video performance by Kyle Wintersteen, a teenager on the autism spectrum who performs in his local youth choir. In the video, Kyle talks more about his autism diagnosis along with dedicating a song to his mother for Autism Awareness Month. This post is part of an initiative on our site called “In Our Own Words: Living on the Spectrum,” which highlights the experiences of individuals with autism from their perspectives.

Kyle's dad Trent wrote about Kyle's performance...

My son has Aspergers. He participates in a youth choir and last night they dedicated a part of the program to celebrate kids with disabilities. He loves to sing and with it being autism awareness month they asked if he would participate. The past two years of high school has been really hard for him. He is like a different person when he sings. If this can provide hope to any other parent, I thought I would share his tribute as he dedicates his solo to his mom.
