Special education professor Kerrie Shogren, Ph.D., shared her work on the role of self-determination in supporting autistic people as they transition to adulthood at the Autism Speaks Thought Leadership Summit on Transition to Adulthood.

As director of the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities at University of Kansas, Dr. Shogren works with people with disabilities in her research. Her work has focused on understanding how to define outcomes determined by individuals, what interventions can help support self-determination in all areas of their lives, and how to change attitudes and beliefs in the community about people with disabilities.
