Sensory-Friendly Community Service Project to benefit United for The Troops. Volunteers will use their creativity to make handmade cards that will go into care packages to be sent to deployed military personal overseas. This project is designed for families and their children of any age to participate in a community service project together in a sensory friendly environment. The project offers easy to use supplies, in a small group setting, with low lighting and low noise and flexibility to stay as little or as long as attention spans allow. This is not a drop off space; a family member is required to stay. Room will have staff with sensory disorder training to offer support and guidance on project. This project is specifically designed for individuals who are on the autism spectrum and/or have sensory integration issues. It will take place in a conference room near the Little Theater. There is free parking for volunteers at the Westchester County Center. Let the parking attendant know you are there to volunteer for the 9/11 event. This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.

Our Autism Response Team (ART) is specially trained to connect people with autism, their families, and caretakers to information, tools, and resources.
