The National Capital Area chapter of Autism Speaks was proud to host a dynamic group of Alpha Xi Deltas for the second annual Summer Immersion Experience the week of July 28th. Young women from colleges across the country came to Washington DC and spent Monday through Friday learning all things related to autism as well as the importance of the four pillars of Autism Speaks.

(July 31, 2014) -- In Greenwich, Conneticut, parents and disabled adults came together to discuss the failures to help fund the needs for adults with disabilities in the state through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). In 2012, $30 million was cut from DDS's budget and many of those in attendance discussed how the budget cuts have hindered their community.

(July 29, 2014) - An article in the Washington Post this past week discussed the lack of services and opportunities currently available to adults with autism. The article quotes Autism Speaks Executive Vice President Lisa Goring. “There are not enough services. It’s a real problem for families.”
