Safety Fair

On Saturday, October 17, Autism Speaks Pittsburgh and MSA-The Safety Company hosted an event to promote safety for the greater Pittsburgh community. Following an autism training, the first responders joined Autism Speaks and MSA in hosting a community Safety Fair for individuals with autism and their families.

In response to a growing concern about our loved ones with autism and their safety, Autism Speaks Georgia, in partnership with the Cobb County Safety Village, offered a two-part safety experience over the weekend for first responders, local autism organizations and families in the metro Atlanta area.

Families in the autism community came together with local first responders for a fun afternoon sponsored by Autism Speaks. “This type of community event is a win-win for families and first responders," said Deputy Aleksandra Ridgeway. "At the end of the event, everyone feels safer and the community becomes more inclusive!”

Despite the more than ninety-degree weather, almost two hundred individuals from North and South Carolina came out to the inaugural Autism Speaks Safety Fair in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Fair also saw representation from fifteen local first responder groups, including local firefighters, medics, police officers, and more.
