Feb-05
September 01, 2007

Dawn Middleton, a Ph.D. student in the Clinical/School Psychology Program at Hofstra University, is seeking parents to participate in an online survey on the parental experience and opinions of educational placements for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. If you are interested in participating, please read below for details.

Dear Parents and Guardians of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders:

I am a Ph.D. student in the Clinical/School Psychology Program at Hofstra University conducting research for my dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Liora Pedhazur Schmelkin. We are currently examining parental experience and opinions of educational placements for children with autism spectrum disorders. The debate over appropriate educational placements for these children has intensified over recent years. However, there is a lack of information, specifically from parents of children with autism spectrum disorders, regarding their opinions and experiences with this issue. The purpose of this study is to gather this information, which is critical to a comprehensive understanding of this often difficult and confusing matter.

We are asking that parents or guardians of children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (Autism, Asperger's syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)) participate in this study by completing the following questionnaire.

If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete the following questionnaire, which will take approximately 20 minutes. No further participation is necessary. We want you to be assured of the complete confidentiality of your responses, so you will not be asked to supply any personal identifying information. All results will be reported in terms of group responses and no individual responses will be reported.

You may access the questionnaire by clicking on the following link:
