Autism Speaks welcomes Dr. Brian Boyd as newest member of science advisory group

Autism Speaks is pleased to announce that Brian Boyd, Ph.D., has joined the organization’s Medical and Science Advisory Committee. The committee provides continual guidance to Autism Speaks leadership on achieving our scientific mission of improving lives today and accelerating a spectrum of solutions for tomorrow.

Dr. Boyd, director of the Juniper Gardens Children’s Project and professor at University of Kansas, studies behavior-based interventions for young and school-age children with autism as well as restricted, repetitive behaviors in autism.

“Dr. Boyd’s impressive body of research and dedication to improving the lives of children with autism through his influential work at Juniper Gardens make him an ideal advisor for our work in autism science,” said Thomas W. Frazier, Ph.D., chief science officer at Autism Speaks. “His focus on community-engaged research will be an especially valuable perspective as we undertake the next phase of strategic planning for science activities at Autism Speaks.”

In addition to his research and clinical work, Dr. Boyd is vice president of the International Society for Autism Research, associate editor for the American Journal of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and an editorial board member for several peer-reviewed autism, special education and behavior intervention journals.
