HASA

UPDATED: September 29, 2020

Our clients are diverse and have diverse needs. The priority focus areas for HASA include the following:
EDUCATION - Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) approved non-public special education school, Gateway School, serves students ages 2–15 with communication related disorders and autism. HASA’s early intervention ABA clinic serves children ages 2–5. Both programs provide students with individualized academic, language, and behavioral programming guiding the students to become independent learners.
HEARING HEALTH - Noise-induced hearing loss and a lack of access to affordable hearing health care is a public health crisis. HASA provides affordable treatment options for pediatric and adult patients including comprehensive diagnostics, Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) and Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), as well as hearing aid selections, fittings, and repair.
INCLUSION - Diversity in communication modalities is an important component of an inclusive society. HASA gives employers, schools, and others the tools they need to welcome communication diversity while also empowering individuals to communicate in the manner most effective for their communication needs (e.g. sign language, spoken english, augmentative or alternative communication systems).
LANGUAGE ACCESS - Sign language is a critical communication tool and is the primary language of many North Americans who identify as Deaf or hard of hearing. It has many forms, from American Sign Language (ASL) to signed English speech with geographical dialects and slang. HASA provides sign language interpreting, onsite and remote ASL education, and language training to improve language access for sign language users.
SPEECH & LANGUAGE - Intervention and treatment of speech and language conditions improve educational outcomes for children and have a tremendous impact on success in adult life. Therapeutic services are available to children and adults—both on our campus and in the community.
