The Department of Developmental Services is one of 16 departments, boards, and offices comprising the California Health and Human Services Agency. The department provides services and supports for approximately 269,900 children and adults with developmental disabilities and 40,300 infants with a developmental delay or established risk condition. These services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with twenty-one nonprofit agencies called regional centers. In addition, the regional centers are currently providing diagnosis & evaluation services to approximately 10,700 consumers.
