Bay Area Legal Aid
UPDATED: January 6, 2021
For many in our communities, justice is not an abstract ideal. It is food, shelter, and protection. It is the difference between staying in poverty and getting out; between dependence and self-reliance. But without help, justice is often denied. In the Bay Area, more than 1.2 million people live in poverty. More than half of these families have a full-time worker in the home. The cost of living in the Bay Area and low-wage jobs also take their toll.
BayLegal’s clients are low- and very low-income members of our communities. BayLegal’s clients are spread across our seven county service area, from San Francisco to Livermore, Gilroy to Napa. They include the working poor, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities.
