Aaron's Acres
UPDATED: September 10, 2018
Aaron's Acres provides year round recreational programs to children and young adults, ages 5-21 with developmental disabilities in central PA. A camp program is held during the summer months. During the school year, there are monthly recreational programs which meet on Friday evenings for 13-21 year olds(going out into the community each month) and Saturday evenings for 5-12 year olds (at one location). All programs focus on developing and improving upon one's socialization and communication skills. In all of our programs, there is a 1:1 or 1:2 staff to child ratio. Our supervisory staff is comprised of professionals (usually special education teachers). Counselors are hired who are usually undergraduate students studying social work, special education, occupational therapy, psychology or recreation therapy. Volunteers, ages 14-17 act as positive role models for our participants. A nurse is on staff at all times in order to address any medical needs.
