Welcome to the page for the Autism Speaks Pittsburgh Chapter!
We are the oldest chapter of Autism Speaks, established in 2005. We have a board that consists of diverse, accomplished professionals whose unwavering commitment to the organization continues to propel us forward and carry on our mission both at the local and national level.
We’re the home of the first EVER Walk! In 2000, a small group of passionate parents came together, determined to raise much needed dollars for autism research. Most original families are still with us and supporting our mission. Today, the Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds across the autism community. This grassroots movement is powered by people on the autism spectrum, their families and friends, service providers, schools, businesses and local volunteers. Walkers advocate and take action for our community’s diverse needs. Their efforts help generate funds that fuel innovative research and make connections to critical lifelong supports and services.
In addition to the Pittsburgh Autism Speaks Walk, the Pittsburgh Chapter also fundraises through its annual gala, Chefs Create Pittsburgh, in the fall. Year round efforts also include Autism Speaks to Young Professionals (AS2YP) Pittsburgh, and the Autism Speaks Pittsburgh Service Provider Round Table.
Whether you wish to join a group or committee, volunteer for an event, or make a donation, we have a place for everyone! The Autism Speaks Pittsburgh Chapter supports Western and Central Pennsylvania, as well as parts of Northern West Virginia (known as the Ohio Valley) and Maryland.
