Yankees host autism awareness game

Great day for families Yankee Stadium as Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays
August 08, 2015

The New York Yankees held their annual autism awareness game this afternoon at Yankee Stadium. NYPD Officer Fred Washington, his son Aaron and family took part in a pregame ceremony at home plate. Fred, Jalen (Aaron’s twin brother), Lori and family have been tireless advocates for increased awareness, research and support of Aaron and all individuals with autism. They have been supporters of the Walk through their team, Aaron’s Way, for two years and this year were one of our top fundraising teams at our Bronx Walk.

Before the game the Autism Speaks logo and a public service announcement were featured on the jumbotron. During the game a special quiet zone, staffed by volunteers from White Castle, was available for families who needed a break from all the action of the game.
