March 16, 2015 marked the Kick-off event for the Western Connecticut Walk Now for Autism Speaks.
Geraldo Reyes, Jr. welcomed the crowd on behalf of the Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary to read a proclamation for the month of April, proclaiming Autism Awareness in the city of Waterbury. The proclamation will be framed and awarded to the highest fundraising school team, Amanda Raus from NBC CT, announced.
Teams and families became excited about the upcoming May 9th Walk event and their potential, the nights theme, of their fundraising abilities and the next 10 years of progress and hope. Ryan Tuohey, Walk Co-Chair, proudly wore his “Be Like Rachel” team shirt when talking to the crowd of over 110 people.
The night ended with Josh Jordan, an 8th grader on the spectrum, telling us why he walks for Autism Speaks and all those like him.
