(February 5, 2014) -- Caleb Lussier, a young man with autism, got a big surprise when his father, Staff Sergeant Richard Lussier, reunited with him during a JROTC meeting at Caleb's high school in Maine. The first few moments led to a giant hug between the two. Caleb had no idea that his father was back from Afghanistan and would be walking through those doors that day.
Caren Lussier, Caleb's mother said, "It was amazing, because you don't see that from Caleb. There's no hugs, no kissing or touching." It can often be challenging for families when one of their loved ones is deployed. For the JROTC meeting, Sergeant Lussier was a guest speaker. For Caleb, his father was back with him and his family.
