More than 1100 attendees participated in the Second Annual Triangle Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday, April 26, 2014 held on the beautiful East Campus of Duke University. This was a very special autism-friendly event with zero amplified sound and several wonderful activities for children and young adults to participate in. A large focus of the day was the advocacy efforts currently taking place in North Carolina regarding insurance reform and the grassroots movement led by Autism Speaks and local volunteers to pass H.B. 498 in the North Carolina senate this year.
To date, the event has raised more than $75,000 in support of Autism Speaks’ mission to fund research, increase awareness and family services and advocate for individuals with autism and their families.
