Soccer Stars "Score for a Cure" in New York City

Autism Speaks and Major League Soccer Team Up at Metropolitan Museum of Art

Autism Speaks and Major League Soccer (MLS) partnered for a Score for a Cure, special gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that benefited individuals and families affected by autism spectrum disorder. Hosted by MLS legends Alexi Lalas and Taylor Twellman, that raised $1,386,067 for Autism Speaks and the Gillen Brewer School, which specializes in educating children with challenging and often multiple disabilities.

In addition to Alexi Lalas and Taylor Twellman, MLS stars who attended includedNew York Red Bulls Head Coach Mike Petke; MSG Networks’ soccer analyst Shep Messing; World Cup and MLS veteran defender Jeff Agoos; KICKTV host and former MLS All-Star Jimmy Conrad. The evening’s honorees included Randy Falco, CEO & President, Univision Communication Inc.; Matthew Higgins, CEO, RSE Ventures Co. and Autism Speaks Board Member; Kenneth M. Jacobs, Chairman and CEO, Lazard; Jay Sugarman, CEO and Chairman of the Board, iStar Financial Inc., and owner of the Philadelphia Union.

Score for a Cure was chaired by Autism Speaks Co-founders Suzanne and Bob Wright; Autism Speaks Board Member Mel Karmazin; Henry Schacht, Chairman Emeritus at Gillen Brewer; former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue; and MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
