September 27, 2007

We are in a critical phase in our effort to pass the Combating Autism Act this year. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton (TX) still refuses to release the Senate-passed Combating Autism Act from his committee for consideration by the full House this session.

He is practicing politics as usual and has stated publicly--on CNN--that he will not consider the CAA until and unless the Senate passes his NIH Reform bill. Chairman Barton, Majority Leader Boehner and Speaker Hastert and their colleagues in the House must hear from us that this is unacceptable! For information on how to take action, visit www.CombatAutism.org.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending Political Action Alerts more frequently as we identify who, when and how to move the legislation forward. Please ensure that you have signed up specifically for updates on the Combating Autism Act by registering on the Combat Autism Web site. Your participation is essential to showing our elected officials how urgently this legislation is needed, and to the successful passage of this landmark Act.
