Paper Mill Playhouse to hold Autism-Friendly Performance of "Elf"

December 04, 2014

Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey is helping the autism community get into the holiday spirit! On December 23, they will be holding an autism-friendly performance of "Elf" based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell.  This is the 2nd autism-friendly performance held by Paper Mill Playhouse and follows the success of their first autism-friendly performance of Little Mermaid in 2013.

The performance will have its lights and sound adjusted to help those with autism avoid any types of sensory overload. On December 22, Paper Mill Playhouse will  host a free open house titled “Meet Your Seat” where families can come to the theater in advance to take time to feel comfortable in their seats.

This isn't the first autism-friendly performance that's been available for our community. Thanks to the Theatre Development Fund (TDF), there have been several autism-friendly performances to hit Broadway in the past year including Spiderman Musical, 'Into the Woods', Disney Junior Live and The Lion King.
