The Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks event kicks off this weekend, April 19. Local 10 spoke to mom Christina Lopez about her involvement with the chapter and how Autism Speaks has made a difference in her child's life.
Lopez will be one of hundreds of parents, friends and family members of people on the spectrum who will walk this weeked with the goal of raising $780,000.
"It's important because they're able to connect with eachother and expand their network. It's a chance for them to connect and share their tips, exchange phone numbers," Lopez told Local 10.
Autism Speaks co-founders Bob and Suzanne Wright will also make an appearance at the walk.
