Los Angeles Walk Now For Autism Speaks a Huge Success

April 27, 2014

Los Angeles' ABC7 reported live from the 2014 L.A. Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday, April 26. The event took place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. More than 55,000 people attended the walk and helped raise $1.68 Million for Autism Speaks.

The annual event had many Hollywood personalities come out to support individuals with autism including Autism Speaks Board Member Holly Robinson Peete, Sal Iacono (Cousin Sal from Jimmy Kimmel live) and Krysten Ritter. The event also included elected officials including the Mayor of South Pasadena Marina Khubesrian and State Senator Holly Mitchell.

ABC7 caught up with Autism Speaks' L.A. Chairman Mark Woodsmall who has a son on the autism spectrum.  "It's an excellent chance to come on down and be with family and friends, and just really work together towards moving towards awareness and meaningful research for our kids."

Woodsmall's young daughter Sofia also chimed in some wise words. "I'm really happy that we're celebrating people with autism to make them feel good and to not make their world so different than everybody else's," said Sofia.
