Liqudio Yoga Announces the Launch of 'Sounds of Silence' Pants

May 25, 2016

I am passionate about spreading the awareness of autism through the platform that being a yoga teacher provides me. This is why I have designed these yoga pants with Liquido Active. For every pair that is purchased Autism Speaks will receive 10% towards funding their incredible program. At Autism Speaks, Their goal is to change the future for all who struggle with an autism spectrum disorder.

The color for Autism awareness is blue. These pants are blue to support and spread awareness and understanding of autism. Light it up blue has become a huge campaign celebrating Autism Awareness month which is April. During this time thousands of iconic landmarks, skyscrapers, schools, businesses and homes across the globe unite by sharing bright blue lights in honor of the millions of individuals and families affected by autism. We can wear these pants everyday to support those we know and love that are effected. The pants have a wave like pattern because the ocean and movement has always been calming to Jack. This constance flow - rhythmic and almost hypnotizing. Learning to ride the highs and lows of life.

My son Jack has autism because he was supposed to. He has autism for the same reason why I am right-handed and have hazel eyes. We were born this way.

But let’s be honest. When my son was first diagnosed, it was hard. I cried. I felt hopeless. I felt like I had failed as a mother. What was I going to do to help make his life easier? My mind was flooded and my heart broken. I felt it all. “Emotionally devastated” was an understatement. However, I honestly think that that helped me get through it. I drowned in fear and sorrow. But then I woke up. It’s not exactly what a mother wants to hear, not part of our plan—that’s what you initially think. The truth is, everything is part of your plan. This troubling diagnosis would turn into such a huge part of me that no one could ever see. It’s a blessing in disguise.

To me, yoga is about knowing that everything happens for a reason. Fate. We trust in what we are given and when we are given it because ultimately we know it serves a purpose. We often fight to find an answer and to decipher reason behind almost everything. Sometimes, though, it just is. My son and yoga have both taught me the power of acceptance. My son is yoga.

He is my greatest teacher, the reason I am here to share with all of you what I have, and I continue to learn from him. He is a gift, my beautiful, present, smart, strong, and loving baby boy.

Obviously I'm intimately connected to this subject. I believe its important to educate and talk about autism. Just because some people are different it doesn't make them weird. May we use the patience we find through yoga to treat each individual as our equal.  Wear these pants with pride and light it up blue!
