In Thailand, where elephants are commonplace, the Thai Elephant-Assisted Therapy Project has been providing a space for those with autism to bond with these gentle giants and feel more at ease in their community.
“With elephant therapy I can see he has more courage now. He’s usually a shy and hesitant kind of person… this program helps him feel more normal, more like everybody else,” one parent told CNN about her son.
