Monday night, Joe’s Crab Shack opened its newly constructed doors in Harlem for an exclusive VIP event. Joe’s Crab Shack hosted the vibrant Harlem community and showcased their partnership with Autism Speaks. This past April, Joe’s Crab Shack and their Team Members nationwide ran a campaign for Autism Speaks that garnered over $1M in donations from their customers. Ultimately the passion and enthusiasm that Joe’s Crab Shack’s Team Members exuded for the cause is what led to an astounding amount of fundraising in their first year as a national partner of Autism Speaks. The leadership that Joe’s Crab Shack has shown helps Autism Speaks move one step closer to helping change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.
The exclusive VIP event was held on the eve of Joe's grand opening, a brand new location set to open Tuesday, July 30th, on the corner of 126th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. Ray Blanchette, president and CEO of Ignite Restaurant Group and Jim Mazany, president of Joe’s Crab Shack, welcomed the evening’s guests and hosted the electric party with their very own southern blues rock band. The VIP event also featured a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks, a check presentation of the over $1M in fundraising donations and a heaping amount of your seafood’s best diet snacks and signature cocktails.
On Tuesday, opening day saw over 600 people, some of whom had camped out for over 48 hours, lined up outside Joe’s Crab Shack before the doors opened at 11:00 a.m. Team Members and staff nationwide traveled to Harlem for the big day, assuring the community that there would be no lack of dance moves or music to get the opening festivities going. In fact, one of the unique experiences about dining at Joe’s Crab Shack is watching the choreographed dances the Team Members break into at various times throughout your meal. Sure to be a good time, go check out their new location and get crackin’!
