Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World" episode to focus on autism

Disney Channel TV show, "Girl Meets World" (based on 90's TV show "Boy Meets World") will use their upcoming episode to shine a light on autism. The episode, titled "Girl Meets Farkle," premieres Friday, September 11, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Actor Corey Fogelmanis plays Farkle, a student who may be on the autism spectrum, according to the episode description. The episode also deals with friendship as Farkle's friends rally around him and emphasize that being unique is a beautiful.

Furthering its commitment to kids and families, Disney Channel will present a special episode of the family comedy series "Girl Meets World" that delivers both entertainment and information for kids and parents about Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. Three experts consulted on the episode to help deliver an authentic storyline that can spark conversation among kids and their families. They are: Elizabeth Laugeson, Psy.D, The Help Group; child development consultant Arthur Pober, Ed.D.; and Shiela Wagner, M.Ed., retired, Emory Autism Center.
