Make a positive difference in the lives of children diagnosed with autism at no cost to you or your company!
How it works: On Miracle Day, CIBC World Markets donates all trading commissions to children's charities designated by participating traders and fund managers. It's simple and an incredible opportunity to impact a child's life!
NAAR's Research Initiative: Earlier this year, CIBC generously donated $62,000 to the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR). Since 2001, CIBC has contributed almost $125,000 in support of NAAR's work and in that same year, became one of NAAR's research partners for a research project entitled, “Risk Factors for Neurodevelopmental Disorders: MMR Vaccine & Childhood Autism”. Our special thanks to CIBC World Markets and to the many individuals and firms who traded on NAAR's behalf during last year's Miracle Day. Thanks to CIBC and other generous donors, these investments will help NAAR sustain the vitality of its research and help build brighter futures for the many children affected by autism.
Please trade on behalf of the National Alliance for Autism Research on December 7, 2005. If you are interested in participating in Miracle Day 2005, or would like to recruit traders on NAAR's behalf, please contact Barry Haber, 1-888-777-6227, Ext. 42, or email.

Q: How does it work?
On the first Wednesday of each December (December 7, 2005), CIBC World Markets donates all fees and commissions generated through equity trading to approved children's charities. Institutional clients participating in Miracle Day simply designate where the commissions should go when the trade is executed: “Please donate the commissions from my trade (s) to NAAR.” CIBC will contribute between 50% and 100% of the commission dollars directly to the participating charity.
Q: Is there a catch?
No. The only requirement to participate in Miracle Day is the have an active account set up with CIBC World Markets and trade or direct commissions to them on Miracle Day (December 7, 2005)
Q: How do I designate NAAR as the beneficiary of my trade commissions?
When you call the trading desk to make a trade, simply say “National Alliance for Autism Research” is your children's charity. It's that simple!
Q: My company has its own trading desk. Why should I trade through CIBC?
Many firms, even if they internalize most of their trading, still usually do some trading outside of their own desk. If they don't, they can simply “step-out” or direct the commissions on trades to CIBC and designate NAAR as their charity.
Q: Is it legal to donate fees/commissions?
Yes. By donating the normal fees and commissions they would make as an intermediary on a financial transaction to approved 501 (c) (3) charities, CIBC is acting in accordance with all relevant securities laws and regulations.
Q: What financial instruments are eligible?
CIBC World Markets is the investment banking subsidiary of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. It is one on the 10 largest investment banks in North America and deals in all major financial instruments including: equities & equity indexes, debt, derivatives, foreign exchange, and commodities.
Q: I have a long-standing relationship with another financial firm. Can I participate in Miracle Day without actually doing the trades through CIBC?
Yes. You can execute what is known as a “step-out”. As long as you have an open account with CIBC World Markets, you can do your trading on Miracle Day with your “existing” relationships and request that the firm executing the trades “step-out” of the commissions and give then to CIBC World Markets. You can “step-out” of all the commissions generated through trading on Miracle Day or “step-out” of the commissions on a designated number of trades, e.g. “100,000 shares of xyz security at 5 cents a share.” All you need to do is let the CIBC desk know that the “step-out” supports NAAR.
Q: What does NAAR do with the money raised from Miracle Day?
The mission of the National Alliance for Autism Research is to aggressively fund global biomedical research accelerating the discovery of the causes, prevention, effective treatments and cure for autism spectrum disorders and to educate the public on the critical role research plays in achieving these goals.
By supporting NAAR on CIBC Miracle Day 2005, we will be
