Bob’s Discount Furniture Expands Partnership with Autism Speaks

March 16, 2016

MANCHESTER, Conn. – March 15, 2016 – Bob’s Discount Furniture, the leading furniture retailer dedicated to untouchable value, today announced it has expanded its partnership with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. Over the past three years, Bob’s Discount Furniture has contributed $200,000 to Autism Speaks through sponsorships, Café Collections for a Cause, and gift card donations. This year the company has already pledged over $120,000 to the organization.

This year, Bob’s Discount Furniture will sponsor Autism Speaks’ signature fundraising event, Autism Speaks Walk, in eleven different cities. Bob’s employees will participate in each walk including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Long Island, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C. and four walks throughout New Jersey. In addition, Bob’s Discount Furniture will continue to donate funds to Autism Speaks through its Café Collections program, matching 100% of customer donations across all stores from April through June.

“We are extremely thankful for the generous support of Bob’s Discount Furniture,” said Peter Morton, Autism Speaks’ vice president of corporate development. “Their donations will support our ongoing progress in advancing scientific research, advocacy, awareness and family services.”

The partnership has gradually expanded over the last three years to include more walks, fundraising initiatives, and cities across the eastern seaboard. As Bob’s Discount Furniture grows into new markets, so does its commitment to Autism Speaks and chapters within those markets.

“We are proud to expand our partnership with Autism Speaks as we enter into new cities and states,” said Cathy Poulin, director of outreach at Bob’s Discount Furniture. “As such a worthy organization, we hope our support can make a difference in increasing awareness and funding research.”
