Autism Speaks takes part in the Marine Corps Marathon

October 31, 2016

On Sunday, October 30, 2016, 25 runners represented Autism Speaks for the first time in the Marine Corps Marathon in and around Washington, DC.  Autism Speaks won a coveted slot this year for our athletes to run and raise money for Autism Speaks in the nation’s capital.  Autism Speaks President and CEO, Angela Geiger, told the runners on the eve of the race:  “From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for everything you do this weekend, and throughout the year, for our loved ones with autism spectrum disorder.”

With approximately $50,000 raised, we salute All of our runners, including our current top five fundraisers:

Noelle Safar

Jeff Gilliland

Fred Chen

Rebecca Adams

Mark Alexander

Several runners also ran for us in the concurrent Marine Corps Marathon 10K.  The Marine Corps Marathon, established in 1976, is annually ranked as one of the largest marathons in the United States and the world.  Runners from all 50 states and 50 countries participated this year.  For more information and to donate, please visit
