(October 1, 2014) - “The Family Next Door” is a new feature-length documentary that follows the Lund family from the Pittsburgh area. This family of four is made up of two girls and two boys on the autism spectrum, Donny, 14, and Brain, 7. The film crew followed the Lund family around for 16 months.
Barry Reese, the film's director and producer told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “The movie shows what it’s like to live in a family that deals with autism.”
Donna Lund, the mother had this to say after she saw the final cut.
“When I see the movie, I’m really proud of my family, I’m really proud of my kids. I think they’re all stepping up to the plate,” she told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I think the most important thing in this movie is we don’t think we’re special. We just think we have challenges like a lot of people. Hopefully, this will be for the greater good of the autism community. This isn’t about us. We’re just the vehicle, really.”
