Alpha Xi Delta at the University of Maryland raises $22,000 for autism

April 12, 2016

It was a great day for a 5K!  The Beta Eta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta had an incredible day supporting Autism Speaks at the University of Maryland.  More than 275 people came out to run the 4th annual Step It Up 5K race, which has raised more than $22,000 – and counting – this year for Autism Speaks.  To date, the Beta Eta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta has raised more than $100,000 for Autism Speaks since their re-colonization on campus in 2013.

This year’s Step It Up 5K race was a Color Run, complete with fun blue powder color to ‘Light It Up Blue’ for Autism Awareness Month.  The weather was beautiful and runners were excited to kick off the day with a run supporting the women of Alpha Xi Delta.  Students on campus were joined by family, friends, and community members – all to support the mission of Autism Speaks.

Step It Up is a campus or community fun run/walk event that attracts members of the Greek community, student organizations, family, friends, faculty, local businesses, community organizations and the local Autism Speaks community.

Thank you to the women of Alpha Xi Delta for their incredible support of Autism Speaks!
