Al Jazeera highlights MSSNG portal launch

September 02, 2015

Autism Speaks vice president and head of genomic discovery, Mathew Pletcher, discussed the MSSNG portal launch on Al Jazeera America.

"This is an important milestone in the project that we're leading, MSS.NG," Pletcher told Al Jazeera.

"This is a project where we're sequencing 10,000 genomes, whole genome sequences, which is essentially the complete codebook for who and what you are, and making that available to a worldwide community of scientists, to begin to provide additional answers to both the cause of autism, but to then provide us a better handle on how to better approach, treat, deliver appropriate therapies back to this community."

"We have a very audacious goal here, that really is to change the way we talk about autism, the way we diagnose autism," Pletcher added.
