The 12th Annual Philadelphia Walk Now For Autism Speaks took place at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday, November 2nd with winds gusting up to 40 miles an hour! Several of our elected officials joined us as well as some of our favorite and most supportive television personalities from CBS Chris May and Jessica Dean. The windy Fall day kept some people at home, but attracted approximately 10,000 individuals and raised over $560,000 and still counting! The Culbertson Elementary School began the opening ceremonies by singing the National Anthem. Philadelphia Council Member and longtime supporter of Autism Speaks Denny O’Brien addressed the crowd discussing issues extremely important to our families. Our very own Cathy Kanefsky also addressed the crowd with her son Sam who had few words to share as well. Then, the ribbon was officially cut by one of our top teams Justin Green of Justin’s Green Team.
The Walk festivities continued through the morning as we were joined by our great communities partners like the Philadelphia Zoo who had some animals on display, the 76er’s, Bob’s Discount Furniture featuring Bob’s Rest Stop, our popular resource fair with several area providers and all of their information, face painting and so much more for our families to enjoy.
Thanks to all of our families, Walkers and sponsors who came out to brave the wind and cold to be with us!
