(October 11, 2014) - More than 700 attendees participated in the windy and rain-soaked 10th Annual Austin Walk Now for Autism Speaks event at Camp Mabry on Saturday! We had four inches of rain on a day that featured thirty one local service providers, a performance by Kyle Cousins, and a fantastic children’s activity area featuring Home Depot and Michael’s!
We were in awe of our wonderful partners from Alpha Xi Delta at the University of Texas, Southwestern University, and Texas State! Not only did they help raise over $25,000 earlier this year, but over 200 women came early to help set up, work in our registration, advocacy, and walk route areas, making the day a tremendous success! What an incredible outpouring of support that we appreciate greatly!
We also want to thank our amazing Grand Club featuring over 10 individuals who raised $1,000 or more, with even more earning the honor on Walk Day! A tremendous thanks to: Mindy Minto, Kathy Sullivan, Libby Vogel, Jason Coppi, Amy Roberts, Lorraine Weber, Jennifer Smith, Kimberly Waltmon, Aimee Dearmon, & Laura Kruse!
To date, the event has raised more than $215,000 in support of Autism Speaks’ mission to fund research, increase awareness and family services, and advocate for individuals with autism and their families. We are especially proud to be sponsored and partner with Truluck’s, Alpha Xi Delta, AutoNation Chevrolet, Whole Foods, Johnny Carino’s, First Leap, HEB, Central Texas Autism Center, Spark Learning, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Austin Regional Clinic, Butterfly Effects, Austin’s Communication Station, The Shape of Behavior, Language and Movement, Aston Martin of Austin, Autism Society of Austin, Seton Healthcare Family, Tomlinson’s Pet Supplies, Lower Colorado River Authority, and Rising Stars Pediatric Dentistry!
A tremendous THANK YOU goes out to our amazing families AND especially our volunteers. Without them, we would not have such a great Austin family. Thank you Mindy Minto and Kimberly Walton, our incredible chairs for this year’s Walk who has been an inspiration to everyone they meet!
