10th annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Chef Gala honors Franklin Becker

Acclaimed chefs from around the country showcased their skills Monday night at Cipriani 55 Wall Street in New York City for the 10th annual Autism Speaks Celebrity Chef Gala hosted by Autism Speaks. Cooking table side, 100 chefs create signature four-course meals for small groups of guests. The chefs, from more than a dozen cities, have earned James Beard awards, Best New Chef titles and stellar reviews. They included:

Ralph Scamardella – Tao; Shane McBride – Balthazar; Jehangir Mehta – Graffiti; Sylvain Delpique – 21 Club; Brad Steelman – The River Café; Daniel Holzman & Daniel Sharp – The Meatball Shop;Chris Coombs – Deuxave; JJ Johnson – The Cecil; Michael Armstrong – Bodega Negra; Justin Walker – Earth at Hidden Pond;Tory Miller – L’Etoile; Gavin Kaysen – Spoon and Stable.

Honorees for the evening included Paralympic gold medalist Mikey Brannigan, who made national headlines for his accomplishments in track and field, and celebrity chef Franklin Becker for his contributions to Autism Speaks and the Celebrity Chef Gala. The evening was emceed by Cat Greenleaf, host of the Emmy Award-winning series Talk Stoop on NBC and USA Network. Ethan Walmark, a musical prodigy on the autism spectrum, performed several songs.
