In Memoriam: Tim Russert

June 15, 2008

All of us at Autism Speaks mourn the loss of NBC News Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert, a strong supporter of children's charities around the world, including Autism Speaks. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Maureen and son Luke.

Statement from Bob and Suzanne Wright, co-founders of Autism Speaks

“We are shocked and profoundly saddened by the news of Tim's sudden passing.

Tim was an incomparable journalist who always asked the tough questions in an effort to get to the truth and serve the public interest. He was the best political journalist in the nation! He was respected within the Beltway for his deep knowledge of Washington politics and reporting skills, and appreciated everywhere else for his ability to explain the complexities of national politics to the rest of us.

Tim, Maureen and Luke are family to us. And while Tim was incredibly dedicated to his family, he was also committed to helping other families anyway he could. We will miss Tim and his indomitable spirit more than words can express. His legacy as a journalist, but more importantly, as a father, husband, son, and friend will live on.”
