The partnership between the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs and Autism Speaks is set to bring about changes in different fields related to autism, officials of both the organizations said at a press conference held April 22 in Doha, Qatar.
The partnership has launched a genetic research centre for early diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders. "This will provide a place for professional application for medical students. Research will not focus on autism alone, all the genetic diseases will be studied," said Dr Hatem Al Shanti of the genetic centre. In 2009, an awareness campaign on autism with the theme, "More information for better services" will be launched. Read more from The Peninsula.
