The Ryan Woods Autism Foundation provides after-school and school vacation programs for teens ages 13+ affected by autism, Asperger Syndrome and other developmentally disabilities. The foundation has specifically focused on this age group because they are vulnerable to gangs in the area. As a result the Ryan Woods Autism Foundation has gained the local and state-wide community respect for helping families affected by these disabilities. The after school program offers social and life skills; building lifelong relationships with peer mentors and college interns. Instruction will include cooking; setting the table, yoga breathing techniques; board games to encourage communication; fishing from the shore during the summer months; and enjoy nutritional meals and beverages. The goal of our program is to bring a whole dimension of learning outside of the classroom to CT teens to prepare them to be independent as they age out of the system and become independent, taxpaying, law-abiding citizens.
