The proposed project will allow the Museum to develop replicable programs for families affected by ASD on a greater scale than is currently available in any New York City museum. Programs are intended to engage all members of the families, and will include a combination of sensory-sensitive film screenings, movement classes and guided tours, enhanced by art-making activities led by a teaching artist. The project will engage a consultant with clinical and educational expertise to advise on best pedagogy and practices to further elevate the level of programs for special needs audiences. The Museum also will engage a parent advisory group to offer feedback and assist in the development of downloadable materials for visiting families.
