Developing a Curriculum for Abilis L.I.F.E. Program

Abilis L.I.F.E. is a comprehensive transition program, designed to prepare young adults with autism (aged 18-24) for increased independence in adult life. Based in downtown Stamford, CT, L.I.F.E. uses a variety of community settings to address four key curriculum goals: Life skills, Independence, Friendship skills, and Employment opportunities. Part of the day is spent in classroom space at UCONN/Stamford, and the rest is spent in the community. Abilis Autism Program staff has been field testing the program, and will now formalize the curriculum and share it with others in the autism community.
