Free Neurodiversity Support Group
What: A chance for neurodiverse kids ages 2-6 to socialize and play with other neurodiverse kids. Also, a chance for parents to connect and support one another.
Where: The Taylorsville branch of the Salt Lake County Library located at 4870 S 2700 W Taylorsville, UT 84118. Meet in the large multipurpose room near the main door.
When: Tuesdays 6:30-7:45, starting January 16th 2024
Why: I am the dad of a 3-year-old who was recently diagnosed with autism, and I am also a mental health counselor who has worked with neurodiverse kids, teens and their families for the past 20 years. I have seen first-hand the benefits that can come from neurodiverse kids and their parents connecting with one another. While there are many more resources available now compared to years past, there do not seem to be a lot of community-based support groups. So, I decided to start one.
There is no cost to attend this group, and you can come as often or as little as you like. Siblings are more than welcome to join. I will provide light snacks but feel free to bring your own as well.
