On February 13, 2014, more than 100 people from southeastern Wisconsin attended the Milwaukee Walk Now for Autism Speaks 2014 Kickoff Party! Guests enjoyed food and beverages from Turner Hall Restaurant and piano entertainment from Eric Look, an adult with autism.
The evening started with team captains and event sponsors gathering to hear about everything that is new to Milwaukee’s event for 2014. The Walk event is adding an Outdoor Walk Route Option to accompany the existing indoor walk route, including the Sensory Friendly route! Also new this year, Team Captains can opt into a Text Message Alert Program to receive updates during the Walk event. And, to add to the existing fun events for children, Milwaukee Walk Now for Autism Speaks is adding an Adult Loft, a resource area for adults with autism to come learn about employment and housing opportunity in Wisconsin.
The evening ended with Eric’s rendition of some classic favorites, and attendees collecting their Walk materials, Puzzle Pieces Campaign Tools and Light It Up Blue awareness posters!
Thank you to all that attended and for those unable to, please CLICK HERE to order your event materials today! We look forward to seeing you on April 5th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center!
