Southeastern Connecticut Walk Now for Autism Speaks Recap

Thursday, October 25, 2012 View Comments

The inaugural Southeastern Connecticut Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Saturday, October 20th 2012 at the beautiful Camp Harkness in Waterford, CT. Kristen Anbari, Walk Chair, was proud and honored to see over 1,500 people in attendance for this firs time event. Autism Speaks mission has been spreading through this part of CT for years and it was a time for a walk event to celebrate. And celebrate they did!

With a ½ mile walk from the walk activities down to the beach and back, the almost 100 teams had lots of spirit, loud cheers and joy. Afterwards, teams lined up for their photo with haystacks and pumpkins and with over 20 autism resource fair participants – families were fully informed of resources and services in the SE CT part of the state.

We are excited to see what 2013 holds for SE CT – and with this event projecting to raise almost $70,000 – there is a lot more to come! For more information: please contact Lauren Amendola, the Autism Speaks CT Director, at 203-200-8450 or
