2012 Wheeling Walk Now for Autism Speaks Recap

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 View Comments

Over 790 participants came out in support of the 8th Annual Wheeling Now for Autism Speaks annual event. This year’s Walk was once again held on Warwood Trail at Warwood School in Wheeling WV. Participants enjoyed a sunshine filled day with food, fun and entertainment!
Congratulations to Walk Chairs, Kelley Fogg and Erica Icenhower for organizing the Walk and helping to raise over $55,000 with donations still expected to roll in!  Special recognition to our Top Teams: Team Lexi, Team Baylee, McGuffey School District, Gallaher Gang, Team Union Local; and Grand Club Members:  Tracey Gambellin, Tami Gallaher and Shawdow Montag.
We would like to thank all of the service providers that attended and our amazing sponsors that helped to make the Wheeling Walk possible.  The Community Resource Fair featured 9 service providers focused on helping families affected by autism.  Our National Sponsors, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R"Us were in attendance with Geoffrey the Giraffe.  Our local corporate sponsors including AERI, Family Behavioral Resources, Christian Fellowship Foundation, Ye Olde Alpha, Ohio Valley Scale, American Tire, Piece by Peace all help to make our event successful and many sponsors also had a Walk team!
A huge thank you to all of the Walk day volunteers who helped to make the day run smooth.  We are so grateful to all of all participants who worked hard for months leading up to the Walk and to all of those who will continue to work through the year’s end to raise much-needed awareness and funds in support of our mission.
