2012 Northern New Jersey Walk Now for Autism Speaks Recap

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 View Comments

Over 7,000 participants came out in support of the 11th Annual NNJ Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Sunday, May 20, 2012.  Together, we raised over $370,000 (and counting!) to fund the most promising autism research, advance advocacy, provide family services, and raise autism awareness.  We are so close to our goal of $570,000 but need your help to get there.

Congratulations to our 28 Top Teams who raised over $2,500 each and 67 Grand Club Members who individually raised a minimum of $1,000.  There is still time to become members of these elite clubs.

Special thanks to:

  • Our National Sponsors, Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us who came out with a team of over 100 individuals and a sample of their Differently Abled Toys for children on the spectrum.
  • Our Local Sponsors:  Investors Bank, Macy’s, Lindamood Bell Learning Processes and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
  • Our countless in-kind sponsors who donated their special treats.
  • The President of Autism Speaks, Mark Roithmayr and his daughter Emma for sharing the day with us!
  • Pat Battle from WNBC Weekend Today for being our honorary 2012 Walk Chair.
  • Geoffrey the Giraffe, High-4 Costume Characters and all the clowns that wowed the children.

Thank you to our stage and field performers who wowed the crowd with their special skills and thank you to our volunteers who enabled the day to run smoothly and reinforced the Walk Committee’s Motto:  Many Hands Make Light Work!

Last but not least – THANK YOU to our wonderful participants who attended.  There would not be an event without you!  Thank you for your continued support and giving up your Sunday morning to celebrate with us.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

With gratitude and appreciation –
