The ninth annual North/Central New Jersey Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Nomahegan Park in Cranford. With over 6000 walkers, the Walk raised $318,000 – so far! Thanks to our Walk Chairs, Jennifer Love, Eileen Ruggiero and Sharon Cohen for their leadership in helping to bring together a wonderful Walk committee again this year.
It was wonderful to be outside on such a gorgeous day, with so many families, and with the support of all the generous people who donated their time, talent and lots of great refreshments for all to enjoy. The North/Central New Jersey Walk took place on a prime fall weekend when the colors were vibrant, the air was crisp and the out of doors was the place to be. There was lots of kid friendly entertainment this year including Celebrate the Children and music by Brady Rymer, Brother John Brown Band, Home Depot Kids Workshop, a Craft Tent, Moon Bounces, a Fun Bus, Temporary Tattoos, Face Painting, Jammin' Jen, and a Community Resource Fair - each vendor with their own kid's activity. In addition, Patti Esler, Walk Refreshments Chair and Twin Oaks Caterers singlehandedly provided refreshments and a barbeque for thousands of walkers!
Thanks also to our corporate sponsors McCarter & English, Robinson & Cole and CR Bard. And last, but certainly not least, we were joined by over one hundred talented volunteers that helped to make the North/Central New Jersey Walk safe and fun for everyone!
