The 2nd annual Arkansas Walk Now for Autism Speaks was held on Saturday, October 1st. October 1st marked the first day the insurance reform bill that was signed in the spring is a law! The State Representative and the State Senator that pushed the legislation both spoke at the walk and reminded everyone of the importance legislative initiatives can make. It was a picture perfect day for the more than 1700 walkers.
Representative Uvalde Lindsey and Senator Mary Ann Salmon were joined by Walk Chair, Dawn Itzkowitz, Honorary Chair, meteorologist Ed Buckner, and Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe for the official start of the 1.5 mile walk. Sponsors include GOLD sponsor – Goodwill Industries of Arkansas; Silver sponsors, ACCESS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Easter Seals Arkansas, Eye Contact Arkansas and FIS; Bronze sponsors, Advanced Tissue, Helping Hand Children’s Center, Coleman Dairy and Music Man Entertainment; Community Investors, Mainstream Technologies and Pathfinder, Inc. With a goal of $81,000, more than $93,000 has been collected to date!
