The 10th Annual Puget Sound Walk Now for Autism Speaks Event took place on Saturday, September 17th at the Seattle Center’s Center Square! We had a record turnout with over 2,500 people attending to support Autism Speaks, check out our fantastic resource fair, and even play in the fantastic Kids Activity Area sponsored by the Auto Warehousing Co.!
The day featured Geoffrey from Toys"R"Us and wonderful speakers. We want to thank Pat Kemp, Mark & Susan Barlet, Jennifer Burrell, Lori Heagler, Justim McOmber, Jim Seymour, Brandy Bloodgood, and Mandy Drake for sharing their stories of Why They Walk!
Under the leadership of Chairs Mark & Susan Barlet, our 10th Annual Walk not only had a record attendance, but we raised over $34,500 on Walk Day with $10,000 coming in to support the Friends of Russell team. Trapper’s Sushi was a big part of that with their three month sale of their special Russell Roll raising over $6,000! Thanks to our sponsors, Key Pharmacy & Compounding Center, Auto Warehousing Co., Landscape Structures, Honda & Toyota of Seattle, the Seattle Children’s Museum, Lexus of Seattle, and Lindamood-Bell Learning Center, and all of our fantastic teams and volunteers, we have over $200,000 in confirmed funds that will be coming in over the next month or two! This puts us in line to meet our goal for 2011!
We also want to give a tremendous shout out to our Grand Club Members! Justin McOmber, Russell Dowman, Lori Heagler, Harmony Orosz, Janis McKelvey, Lisa Urich, Kristin Schaaf, Brandy Bloodgood, Jaime Sanders, Akarsh Vaidyanathan, Kristen Howell, Stephanie Hare, Lawrence Tanimoto, James Gayton, Sandra Nunnelee, Micah Roth, Mark Barlet, Jennifer Burrell, Susan Barlet, Linda Riggins, Arlene Rankin, Theresa Burch, Sarah Parish, Maria Rodriguez, Julia Walters-Burns, Dawn Kim, Lorraine Yanagawa, Michelle Crews, Jaquelyn Osborne, Dave Friant, Jennifer Di Bona, Elaina Franklin, Troy McCall, Kelsea Evans, Alex Barlow – and a few more that will be credited soon! Each of these fantastic fundraisers will be entered into our random chance drawing of two airline tickets courtesy of Alaska Airlines! In addition, anyone who becomes a Grand Club member from now until our Awards Reception will be entered!
