The fifth annual 2011 Minnesota Walk Now for Autism Speaks was held on Saturday, September 24 at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Approximately 3,500 attendees came together as one united effort to attain our fundraising goal of $180,000!
Special thanks to 2011 Minnesota Walk Chair, Linda Kirby and the Walk Committee members for their efforts and expertise to make this event such a success. Thanks to the army of volunteers from Kohl’s Cares, Alpha Xi Delta, Target Corporation, and others civic groups that assisted in the execution of the event. Also, a huge thank you to our National Walk Sponsors, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us, as well as our local sponsors, Landscape Structures, KTIS, Autism Advocacy & Law Center, DECO, Lovaas Institute Midwest, Partners In Excellence, Alpha Xi Delta, Risk Solution Resources, Water Park of America, Radisson – Bloomington, Mall of America, Coherent Solutions, Minnesota Autism Center, All About Children Pediatrics and Cindy’s Creative Celebrations.
This was the first year for our event at the Mall of America, which included fifty resource fair vendors and event sponsors, a premiere of the Theatres at Mall of America’s Sensory-Friendly Films, the National Anthem performed by Miss Minnesota, Natalie Davis, entertainment by Stages Children’s Theater and The Spots, and loads of fun for everyone involved. Thanks to the walk teams, donors and supporters who made 2011 such a wonderful success in Minnesota!
