2011 Greater Austin Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Thursday, September 29, 2011 View Comments

The 6th Annual Greater Austin Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place at Dell Diamond, Round Rock, TX on Saturday, Sept. 24 with over 3,000 people in attendance.  To date we have raised $140,000, with donations continuing to come in as we continue to surpass our goal of $110,000!

The day started with Jamie Moellenhoff, a music major at Texas Lutheran University, singing the National Anthem for our Opening Ceremonies.  Texas State Senator Kirk Watson officiated with Loriana Hernandez of FOX 7 News as emcee, and area legislators from Rollingwood, Pflugerville, Leander and Austin were also in attendance.

A big thank you to ALPHA XI DELTA! The 3 area campuses (UT, Texas State and Southwestern) showed up in force to the Walk and raised an incredible amount of funding for research, awareness, family services and advocacy!  Our largest sponsors included HEB, Carino’s Italian, Language & Movement and Rising Stars Pediatric Dentistry.

A bigger thank you goes to Tracy Burwell and the Greater Austin Walk Committee;  A fabulous time was had by all thanks to all your hard work and dedication!  Our biggest THANK YOU goes to each walker, donor, team captain, sponsor and volunteer; we couldn't have done it without you!
