2011 Bay Area Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 View Comments

15 year old David Teplitz from Team David has been the #1 fundraiser for the past 8 years raising a total of over $145,000!

The 9th Annual Bay Area Walk Now for Autism Speaks took place at History San Jose at Kelley Park in San Jose, CA on May 21st, with 6,000 people in attendance! To date we have raised $400,000, exceeding our goal, with donations continuing to come in! Special thanks to DJ Fabian, who served as our event emcee, and to members of “501st Legion: Vader’s Fist” for entertaining us all.

A huge THANK YOU to Walk Co-Chairs Pamela Kerman and Marcy Uecker and the Bay Area Walk Committee Members for making this Walk so successful. The San Jose State Alpha Xi Delta Walk team was a HUGE part of our success! Alpha Xi Delta contributed over 50 volunteers on Walk day, AND they were honored as one of the Top Fundraising Teams, with over $10,000 raised before Walk day! Thank You to Alpha Xi Delta! The Community Resource Fair featured over 35 local providers and many of our wonderful sponsors were on site, including Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us, Lineagen, Rothstein Kass, Communication Works, Pacific Autism Learning Services, and Spencer Hardy Music Therapy. We’re so grateful to all of our participants who worked so hard for months leading up to the Walk and to those who will continue to work through year’s end to raise much-needed awareness and funds in support of our mission.
